Ardene Lends a Hand

Today is the International Day of Charity, a day that is close to our hearts at Ardene. We’ve always believed in giving back to our community, and because this year has been so challenging for many, the need for volunteers is stronger than ever. At a time when many of us are focused on navigating new norms for back to school or working from home, let’s remember to also extend a helping hand to people who need it most in these trying times.

Community Day

Every year Ardene organizes company volunteer initiatives for our team members to help make a difference, and this year is no different. We’ve created a culture of giving back that inspires everyone here, and we are proud to continue that with our upcoming, annual Community Day. Every year we select a handful of local organizations for our team members to choose from; giving our people the opportunity to learn more about their initiatives and take part in helping out. This year there’s a bigger demand for volunteers than ever before, so we will be working with Moisson Montreal, GUEPE, Starlight Children’s Foundation and MIEL Montreal.

Moisson Montreal

As the largest distributing food bank in Canada, Moisson Montreal collects food and basic need donations and redistributes them to community groups. We will be helping them sort, label and package food products to be delivered to local families in need.

GUEPE

GUEPE’s goal is to teach people about environmental and natural science and accompanied by their educators and naturalists, we will take part in cleaning a local nature park. Having worked with GUEPE for many years tree planting and learning about nature conservation, this will be a great opportunity for our employees to give back to the environment too.

Starlight Children’s Foundation

We’ve been partnered with Starlight for over 5 years now, and every year we take part in their initiatives to bring joy to sick children across Canada. This year, we will be assembling craft kits with packs of toys that will be shipped to families across the country, bringing smiles to so many children’s faces.

MIEL Montreal

This local cooperative works to increase biodiversity in the city and provides education and support for the healthy maintenance of honeybees and other pollinators. Their beekeepers have extracted the honey from our beehives, and as part of our partnership with them and our commitment to our sustainability journey, we will help bottle it while learning about the extraction process.

Despite the many changes we’ve had to adapt to this year, our community still needs us. With all the necessary safety measures in place, a drive to help and a positive attitude, we can all make a difference and feel good doing it.
