Ardene’s Carbon Offset Shipping & Sustainability Update
In a year like no other, when businesses had to quickly adapt to a new reality, Ardene is happy to announce that we stayed on track with our sustainability journey and moved ahead with our goals to reduce our carbon emissions. Our eco-conscious initiatives are a priority for us, so we continue to improve our practices and gain new partnerships to help us give back to the planet.
Our Partners in This Journey
Part of the journey is learning how to do better, and by partnering with internationally reputable, sustainable organizations, we’re not only aware of our environmental impact, but we are evolving as a company. With the guidance of partners like Sustainable Apparel Coalition, whose role is to provide transparency in the supply chain, and Ardene’s annual GHG mapping, certified by Climate Smart, we can plan further emission reductions and continue to lower our footprint.
Our Newest Initiatives
One of our newest partnerships is with The Textile Exchange. They manage several large initiatives, which are responsible for certification in the chain of command of a product, which means it has been certified every step of the way from raw material to final fabric. For companies like ours, there are currently two main ways to guarantee eco-conscious product: either through a trademarked fabric (like REPREVE, as we do with much of our denim) or by seeking certification. The Textile Exchange helps us meet our certification needs, all while helping us learn and grow on our sustainability journey.
Better Black Friday Shipping with Carbon Offsets
As we head into the busiest shopping season of the year, we are also proud to announce our new partnership with Planetair, which allows us to provide carbon neutral certified shipping. This means that for every online order we ship to customers, we offset our carbon emissions. Through this organization, we invest in Gold Standard certified projects that reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Each project we invest in helps us reduce our carbon footprint and neutralize our impact on the climate. Our efforts also support the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
Black Friday is coming up, and we recognize the shift in shopping habits this year will probably bring. Although we have increased our safety measures in stores, more customers will likely turn to online shopping for Black Friday deals and holiday gifts. With our carbon offsets, customers can feel good about ordering online with us knowing that with every order we ship, we give back to the planet. We are proud of this big step in the right direction and look forward to sharing new sustainable initiatives as we continue our journey.
