Investing in Our Planet
It's Earth Day, and although today is a reminder for us to put the planet first, progressing with our sustainability goals is something we're passionate about all year long. Whether it's partnering with organizations that help us reduce our carbon footprint, supporting initiatives that help conserve the land, or rolling up our sleeves to help clean our local parks, we're committed to doing more. If we all invest in our planet together, we can create a brighter (and greener) future.
Preserving the Nature We Love
Once again this year, we've been collecting donations online and in stores to support the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). NCC works to conserve and restore Canadian natural habitats and protect our local wildlife and plant species, and it helps raise awareness and promote education about nature. Since March 22nd, we've been inviting customers to round up their purchases in stores or donate $1 online to support NCC's cause, and today's the last day to donate. Giving Back Through Carbon Offsets
For the last few years, we've also been offering carbon neutral shipping for all our online orders, and in that time we've contributed close to $30,000 with the Gold Standard-certified projects we invest in through Planetair. These projects help support energy efficiency, renewable energy and water management, and they allow us to offset 100% of the greenhouse gas emissions from every ecom shipment. Our Planetair portfolio also supports climate change mitigation by contributing to the NCC as well, and we're proud to continue investing in offsets that not only reduce our impact on the planet but also support nature conservation.
Our Teams Clean Up
When it comes to individual action for the common good, one of the best ways that we can make an impact is by getting hands-on and cleaning up our public spaces, and that's exactly what our team members did. We set out to a local park where naturists from Guepe guided us in cleaning the area to prepare for summer. We've been working with Guepe for many years, and we're grateful for the opportunity to learn from their educators and get involved by giving back to nature.
From personal projects to widescale initiatives, when it comes to sustainability, no effort is too small. We're proud to continue on our journey of investing in the planet and looking for new ways to make a difference, because every bit helps. Happy Earth Day!
