Our Favorite Place on Earth
Today is Earth Day, so there’s no better time to celebrate our favorite place on Earth: Canada. Ardene is a proud Canadian company and spending more time outdoors over the past year has allowed us to reconnect with the beauty and nature that we’re so proud of. We’ve discovered some of our national treasures, and we realize that we don’t need to travel far to find new spots to relax and unwind. We're featuring some of our content creators’ favorite places on Earth on instagram, because as a community we can not only share our nature experiences, but we can share ways we can help it thrive too.
Support for NCC
‘Restore our Earth’ is this year’s Earth Day theme, which is exactly what we want to help do by supporting the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). NCC is Canada’s leading not-for-profit, private land conservation organization, working to protect our most important natural areas and the plants and wildlife they sustain. To help raise money and awareness for NCC’s work, we are collecting $1 donations online and in our stores until May 1st, so everyone can help preserve their favorite places on Earth. Our 2020 Sustainability Achievements
We are happy to say that despite last year’s challenges, we stayed on track with our sustainability goals and have even more for the coming year. Here are some of 2020’s highlights:
Nature
We have 2 thriving beehives with over 10,000 bees in each! We also harvested our first-ever natural, organic honey, and we are preparing our community garden to open for another season!
Plastic
We've introduced recycled and recyclable plastic bags, packaging and tags to most of our products. We have 100% recyclable hangers for all our lingerie and swim products, and our famous surprise bags are made from 100% recycled plastic too!
Paper
We now use FSC certified paper for all our hangtags. What does that mean? Well, FSC is a non-profit which sets super high standards on responsible forestry practices... it's the gold standard for harvesting wood! (We even use good ink - 80% of it is soy-based!).
Partners
One of our newest partnerships is with one of the most reputable global sustainable organizations. The Textile Exchange helps us meet our certification needs, all while helping us learn and grow on our sustainability journey.
Carbon
We now provide carbon neutral certified shipping with Planetair, which means that for every online order we ship to customers, we offset our carbon emissions. Customers can feel good about shopping online with us knowing that with every order, we give back to the planet.
Ambassadors
This year we introduced our new team of head office sustainability ambassadors. With a representative from every department, their objective is to lead the way across the company to help put the planet first in everything we do.
Our Promise
We recognize that our commitment to being more sustainable is a team effort and requires support at all levels, so we also introduced our Employee Declaration for Sustainable Action Commitments. All team members at head office and in stores signed an agreement to help find ways to reduce our collective impact on the environment. Any change big or small has a lasting impact and that’s what matters.
This year has been a reminder of the things that are most important in our lives and protecting the places we love is one of them. This Earth Day, and every other day of the year, let’s work together and share ways we can all do our part for the planet.
